Blended Learning, Practical Site Assessment and Applied Assessment

About the Programme

This programme develops the competence required to assess workplaces where employees perform work at height and prepare appropriate fall-protection plans.

It is intended particularly for persons responsible for protecting employees who are exposed to fall hazards.

Learners develop competence in worksite risk assessment, fall prevention, fall-arrest planning, rescue considerations and the management of personnel working at height.

Entry Requirements

Learners should have demonstrated competence in

  • Communication at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.

Where learners physically participate in working-at-height activities, appropriate medical fitness requirements are also relevant.

  • Safety Officers
  • OHS Practitioners
  • Supervisors
  • Site Managers
  • Construction Safety Personnel
  • Working-at-Height Supervisors
  • Persons responsible for preparing Fall Protection Plans

Mode of Study

Blended Learning

The theoretical component may be delivered through digital learning and facilitator-led sessions.

Practical competence requires application to an actual or appropriately simulated work-at-height environment.

Practical/Workplace Component

Learners should undertake a worksite assessment, identify hazards, evaluate risks and develop suitable control measures.

The learner then uses the information gathered to prepare an appropriate Fall Protection Plan.

Assessment

Assessment includes theoretical knowledge and practical application of worksite risk assessment and fall-protection planning.
